What to expect
Railway-specific measurement technology faces special challenges: distributed and synchronous measurement data acquisition from several thousand channels inside and outside the train or the direct reading of rail vehicle-specific bus systems such as MVB. In addition, extremely robust measurement hardware is required, which delivers results in real time through intelligent interaction with software solutions and makes it easier for the user to create analyses and reports.
Learn more about testing on rail-bound vehicles:
Testing and Measurement is used for safety and reliability as well as performance and durability verification.
There is a whole range of challenges to solve:
Measuring temperatures, forces, torques and vibrations in a decentralized, distributed and synchronous manner. Measurement solutions include wireless (telemetry) and wired sensors.
Brakes are important safety elements in vehicles to reduce speed and stop the vehicle. This is usually done by converting the kinetic energy supplied into thermal energy. It is therefore necessary to check the function of the brakes as a braking distance measurement, often also in conjunction to the brake disk temperature.
In order to ensure safe and reliable operation of the bogies, regular maintenance is required and, in particular, testing on test benches with electric drives.
Tests to verify safety against derailment, weighing and twisting test bench
Measurement of noise emission (EN ISO 3095) and inside-noise measurement in track-bound vehicles according to EN ISO 3381
